Although it’s being released on 3, it’s going to be pretty much an all-networks affair after that, so I wouldn’t worry about switching from O2.

I have the prada phone and what you have to do is press the profile button, just below the vol up and down keys on the left hand side, this should bring up the keypad.

Hope its the same for the Viewty, smart phone.

Regarding the comment about Windows OS. To be honest, I had most of the Windows Mobile Phones that are out there from the AMEO, SPV series to the SAMSUNG range to, they are all great phones, but regarding the touch screen element, Microsoft really need to sort out this OS.

Its just not great using a stylus all the time, the Prada phone is great for texting, photo taking, mp3 player etc, and the viewty seems to take the Prada and just improve on it.

Think its time for a change!

Got this phone on tuesday and have to say very very impressed. More impressed than i had hoped to be, i would recommend it to anyone.

JUST A QUICK QUESTION WHEN WRITING A MSG HOW DO U ERASE A LETTER IF YOU TYPED THE RONG LETTER WITHOUT HAVING TO CUM OUT OF THE WHOLE MSG AND TYPE IT ALL AGEN?? MY HEAD IS BAFFLED WITH THAT. LOL

To erease a letter use the sideways U key between the green and red phones; it took me a while to work that one out. Just got rid of my N95 for this phone, after countless problems with the earpiece. The camera on this one isn’t as good as the nokia, and in comparison the video is nowhere near as crisp.

press the small “c” button in between the call and disconnect key.

Phone comes with a lipstick-esque extending stylus. No space to store it in the handset, but it has a string so it can dangle from the phone.
It is on O2, free on 18 month contract (£35/mth). You can bring up a keypad during a call

Ive been in and looked at a few phones in the local O2 store. The IPHONE was shockingly bad and the qwerty board was rubbish, i think the next gen version will be amazing though. I like the VIEWTY, it looks stunning and not as bulky as i thought.

I have had this phone for a few days now from dialaphone.

It is excellent, its very slim and light. The touchpad is not overly senisitive so you can accidently brush over something wiithout going to the wrong place! The message tones have a selection, have not yet tried to add my own so can’t comment. The batterys not bad when you consider the power that must be taken for the touch screen. The camera is excelllent.

Only complaints are O2 is a complete pain in the arse to get hold off! If you do alot of internet browsing it does not fit the page to the screen so is quite irritating trying to scroll up and across the page. The screen locks itself when your on a call so if you have to start pressing options be prepared to have to listen through them again! Not suitable for anyone with sight problems.

No phone is ever perfect, but this one is different, the touchscreen is a novelty and the camera is excellent. I would recommend it over the new sony errison fir sheer fun value!

Yes it does, you can also use your stylus or finger to look at missed calls, received calls, etc buy pressing the tabs at the top of the screen.

You can get the viewty on t mobile I got mine on thursday direct from them as an upgrade and it cost me £10. It’s an ok phone. But it’s just ok the novelty of all the features will quickly wear off pretty quickly then it might get annoying, especially with the jog wheel on the back for scrolling through lists, it is the most annoying thing EVER

Nooo steeeve. It goes up to 2592 x 1944 which is like 5mp i think.

Had the phone for about a week and i’m really liking it. Few little niggles though.
I cant seem to be able to delete the entirety of my inbox or sent items so
you have to delete them one by one which is a nightmare, and scrolling through
large lists can be abit painfull sometimes too. Also the camera’s flash over exposes
shots that are close up which is annoying. But apart from that it’s one of the
best phones i’ve owned in years. Texting is really easy and i find that i’m much
quicker than i was with my LG shine. The 120fps video shooting is an absolute
joy and the 3 inch screen frames the shots really well.
So yeah, i’ve found it’s a really intuitive, easy to use phone with some nice features.
And you don’t half get some jealous looks..

infact worked out how to do multi delete so ignore that..

A case is just what im looking for.

I used to own the Prada and I liked the case that came with that.

Regarding scrolling through lists, my mate found the best way, you just push on 1 item then drag up or down which I find it makes things pretty speedy.

I dont use the Jog Wheel for scrolling through lists, I just use my finger to drag up and down. Sorted!

It is a great phone, im still waiting to get mine unlocked from the dreaded ‘3′ network. Found somewhere to do it, got to travel there to get it done this friday. Then its onto t-mobile. Web n walk is made for this phone!

Also the comment with is this a girls or boys phone?

It looks great and the features are great. So I would say it appeals to both, so thats a good thing

Charlottes question on “does it have good memory” it has 170mb built in, but obviously you can buy a micro sd / transflash memory card and that will up the memory considerably. I have a 2gb in mine and im going to try a 4gb in it to. Apparently a 4gb will work as long as its not formatted using the phone. Will see if it works when I get one.

James “does it have a good zoom” - You can choose what zoom you want to be able to use, you can enable up to 16 x digital zoom. Ive found then when it takes a picture its pretty blurry on the screen, but then once the pics taken it sharpens up like some normal digital cameras out there. I find the zooms plenty good enough. I havent transferred any pics to me pc yet cos apparently they are even better than on the little lg viewtys screen!

I’ve just ordered the LG Viewty (despite already owning the iphone!!) and cannot wait for it to arrive! I love the iphone, but having had a sony ericsson 3.2 megapixel camera phone, I really do miss having a good camera on my phone, which the iphone unfortunately lacks. Anyhow I plan on using both phones depending on the occasion!! LOL

Digital zoom is totally pointlesss. You may aswel not bother then zoom in when u put it on your pc. All it does is enlarge the pixels

Hiii Keeley. Yeah i was stuck with that for a while too. Right you have to go into your inbox or whatever then touch the bottom left icon for the options and select Mark/Unmark. Then tick boxes appear next to your messages. Just touch the square right at the top to select them all and then click delete ! =)

And no you cannot customise your shortcuts. =( rubbiiiiish.

have just received this phone today (£20 from T-mobile!!). I have trransferred my 1gb memory card from my nokia but now it says my memorys full!! Does it need a bigger memory card??

A warning to anyone that this may annoy… you have to delete text messages from your inbox and sent items box ONE at a time… may sound petty but my god is this annoying! Its possibly the worst thing LG could have done because other that that, this is the best phone i’ve ever owned but this is just WAY WAY too frustrating… its gotta go back!

Have the Viewty good phone. To everybody who uses there mobile for internet access. Recommend web site Opera Mini.com and down load there free internet browser (4.0). You will be happy at the result. Large text, quicker downloads and for those with a Viewty you will be able to scroll up down left and right without using the jog wheel. I never access my internet using my web and walk.

I’m looking for a new phone on contract. I really wanted the sony K850i but it dsoesn’t seem to have any good reviews also what worrys me about the lg viewty is the touch screen not working properly after time. I bought the lg chocolate a while back now but could never use the touch pad when it was on charge so i’ve been put off a bit.

The touch screen can be a bit of a pain Simon. I found it hard to text sometimes when walking and that its near enough impossible to use the keyboard with one hand. I tend to keep it in my pocket too so have sometimes accidently turned off the screen lock and opened applications without me knowing but i guess that happens with every phone. That aside though i find still
find it a joy to use and would definitely choose it over the traditional set ups.

Didn’t receive a protective case with it Lorna no. But it did come with a thin plastic screen
protector that you can stick on which will stop it from some scrapes and scratches but
kind of ruins the aesthetics somewhat.

re Touch screen not working - I had an LG Prada and I have to say I was impressed with the touch screen. It worked very well and the Viewty is sooo much better than that. With the screen vibrating when you type it lets you know when you touch the screen which is great when typing out texts.

Its not amazing but it sure isnt rubbish. Alot of bass sounds are played on the viewty but on some of the HTC phones ive owned you cant hear them using the speaker built into the phone.

“Does it cost extra to view the maps and you tube videos?” If your on Three network some content is free, eg MSN Live Messenger, but i understand these are only free until the end of december. I would say tmobile are the best with their Web n Walk packages but its worth asking all the networks what data bundles they do. I can use my phone using a three pay as you go sim card and it doesnt cost me anything for Live Messenger or Google Maps.

You have a choice, using the built in speaker in the phone you can play your music out loud, or plug in the headphones (which have a seperate socket for any 3.5mm headphones) and listen in private.

I find the touchscreen is great, I can use the phone in one hand and comfortabley text, no problems. Also being able to choose the input method, the QWERTY Keyboard is what I prefer, the screen is landscaped and you can type away to your hearts content. I find i can type reasonablely quickly like this.

I want a digital camera but am also in desperate need of a new phone. I thought this looked like a good combination as id hate to have to carry around both a camera and a phone. would this phone be a good solution or am i better just getting a digital camera AND a phone?

Awesome phone only problem is painfully slow file transfers from pc to phone using usb cable.

I have had this phone for 7 days and im sending it back, its a lovely looking phone but hard work.

It’s is an amazing phone, but it’s just the battery that’s a bit of a let down.
It doesn’t last a full day without cutting out.

To be honest, The LG Viewty is not good at all ! The mobile phone missing many important things as Wi-fi connection, PC Sync, AND JUST 256k COLOUR SCREEN !/ and thats is most important I think. Just look at New Apple iPhone ! thats proper phone, its perfect. That is just my opinion.

Hi there; just bought the Viewty yesterday over the phone on Orange, came with a good deal-they said if I ordered over the phone and not on the internet I got a free ipod nano worth £99.99-great for my boyfriends christmas present!

However, in all the reviews I’ve read there doesn’t seem to be much information or comments on the mp3 feature of the phone-does anyone have any information on it? Like

- How do I upload music onto the phone? Can I transfer songs from my Itunes on the computer?

-Is the music easily accessible and easy to use?

-How many songs does it hold?

Hi, I’ve had this phone a couple of weeks now, all in all it’s very good.
However, can anyone help…..?
My problem is this, I can receive EMS, that is, in a standard text message you can add little animations etc. (i COULD DO THIS ON MY SONY ERICSSON W810i)
The LG displays these when people put them in texts to me, but the LG doesn’t seem to be able to create a message with these animations in them, also it cannot forward a text that has animations in them.

Answer to Ross’s question “I really like the phone but have 1 problem, when you have downloaded tracks to the mp3 player how do you delete them from your phone if you no longer want them?”

If you go into “MY STUFF” and then into “MY SOUNDS” then select the track you want and then choose the menu in the bottom right of the screen and then DELETE this should remove the file from your phone.

Same if you go to “MY STUFF” and then scroll down to “EXTERNAL MEMORY” and then “MY SOUNDS” and “MP3″ and then using the same method above, select DELETE to remove them off your memory card.

u can delete your messages in a 1ner if u plug it into your computer and do it that way

to delete multiple text msgs- you need to open the list in the bottom left of the screen & click on mark several. then tap on the msgs u wanna delete & then delete all that are ticked.

My dad bought me the LG Viewty last Friday + at first i was really pleased with it but there is only one thing that annoys me is the battery life. I have to charge it up nearly every day but depends on how much i use it.

Just like i charge it up last night and it was full battery..but when i woke up this morning it completly was switched off. The same with this morning it was fully charged in the mornign but went dead at dinner.

Does this happen to every LG Viewty?
Is there anything i can do to make the battery last longer?

Also i have been having trouble getting music from my computer onto the phone, the book is to complicated.
Please help!

This is one great handset all of the features work smoothly and sufficiently there are some very good features such as the 5.1 megapixel camera and the 3″ touch screen but i would change 2 things about the phone. The first is the lack of WI-FI it simply is a feature a phone of this price and market type should not be missing ecspecially when it is becoming high demanding for all handsets to have. The second is the memory it has 100mb or it fair enoguh would have been better to have 1GB or 8gb like its competators and i would certainly change the memory card micro sd may be the smallest card around but it is extremely slow something like a mini sd would be better.

iv figured out how to delete all messages in your inbox at once

open inbox and tap the button in the bottom left corner

slide the screen down to reach the mark/unmark option

tap it

at the VERY TOP next to where it says inbox there should be a little ticking box

tick it and it selects all messages in the inbox for deletion

some of the photo and vidio format used on the phone cant be played back on the phone how dumb is that. i spoken with lg and there are no plans for a software update yet. apart from that it’s pretty good.

usb transfer is quite slow so i’d recommend useing bluetooth for transfer as this is alot quicker. the battery life isn’t bad at all as many people have been saying, i use my viewty everyday and the battery only needs charging around every 4-5 days. i think the problem is that on the first charge up (when u take it out the box) u must charge it for a minimum of 12 hours! (i left mine charging over night) a message wil pop up after about 6 hours saying its fully charged, IT ISN’T! The battery only thinks that theres anough life for as long as u charged it for, when actually there is alot more. On the very first charge up, if u didn’t leave ur viewty on charge for a minimum of 12 hours, the battery is fcukd any i’d recommend buying a new one in order to use this phone for maximum life!

Extremely pleased with this phone. I have had mine for 2 weeks now and no problems whatsoever. The menus are a doddle to get around and the touchscreen is a breeze. I do not even have to use the stylus pen provided which I thought I would as I have large hands and big fingers. In my opinion the phone is better than the iphone which I initially bought but ended up taking back because of various problems i had with it, not least to mention the touchscreen. The viewty has more features and a far beeter camera than the iphone also, and for a fraction of the price!

Mines on pay monthly. But you can def buy it on pay as you go, although they are v expensive on a pay as you go plan.

Francesca, there are many reasons why your phone might not be connecting, my first would be to make sure the usb ports on your pc are working properly, maybe try on a friends pc just to see if it works on theirs, if their laptop recognises the new hardware connected you then know the problem is with your pc and not the phone. Also have you installed the software that came with the phone onto your pc?

How are you connecting your phone to your laptop? USB cable?

The best way I have found to transfer music is to make sure you phone is in MASS STORAGE mode, you do this by going to PHONE SETTINGS, then select CONNECTIVITY and then USB CONNECTION MODE and choose MASS STORAGE.

When you plug your phone into your laptop it should recognise it as a USB FLASH DRIVE and an extra drive letter will appear in MY COMPUTER.

you can then copy music to the SOUNDS and MP3 folder on your phones memory card. I would suggest getting a bigger memory card, 2gb ones seem to work fine.

(i have a 4gb one which plays the music off it ok, but doesnt like being used to take photos on, the phone just responds with memory card full, using internal memory instead.)

Battery life, if you turn off the vibrating screen I have found the battery life to be alot better. Im a text a holic and i also receive a few phone calls in the day, plus surf the web for about an average of 10 - 20 mins a day, and with the vibrating screen on it will last about a day (charging before you goto bed is a good idea), otherwise with it on silent, i would say about 2 days use. Bare in mind I dont turn my phone off at night, its left on all the time.

Im on tmobile and i love the web n walk tariff, unlimited internet, its great. I have to say tho that sometimes the browser works and sometimes it doesnt. This is the only downside for me. Being a windows mobile fan opera on a windows mobile device always managed to a get a connection, whereas using the built in browser on the viewty its kinda hit and miss. That aside when you are actually using the browser it is great and everything from texting to phone calls is sooo much easier due to the ease of use with the viewty.

I would recommend you getting at least a 2gb memory card for the phone. Thatll enable you to store a decent amount of music and films on it.

Plus the headphones you get with it are ok, but you plug these into a convertor which comes with the phone. this means that any 3.5mm ear / head phones should work with the phone, nice touch!

Yeah my phone does this sometimes, the back cover can come off, but as long as you make sure you push it down its ok. Think it also depends how you put it in your pocket. Mine only does it every now and then.

Song wise, I would recommend getting a memory card, from my experience a 2gb one works fine with the phone, for storing pictures and also for music and videos. Ive yet to watch a converted film but i can say that having owned alot of other phones in the past (everything from sony ericcsson, nokia and the various windows mobile handsets that are out there) this so far has been the best quality mp3 player. Bass and tones are more audible on this phone, and the quality sounds great. Cameras great in standard light and the flash and auto focus work well. Bit of bummer only being able to shoot the slow mo video recording, 120fps at a love 3xx x 2xx or whatever size but its still a good feature.
Ive found the LG Viewtys touchscreen to be very usable and the os while not very customizable to be very easy to use. Texting is simple with one handed use very possible on it.
Im happy with mine.

Im still trying to get msn to work on my phone but when i had a three pay as you go sim in it, and could use msn, you can choose other email address and type it in there instead of using the hotmail.com, etc options that are there. i have my own website so i selected other email address and managed to get on messenger fine this way.

however changing to tmobile has proved that i cant use msn anymore, only seems to be an option on the three network, still trying to get around that!

phones battery life every one says its shit but they wrong its fine great in fact but for this greatness u must charge it up for 12 hours for the first time. or u will have a crappy life span if u have aready fucked it up then get a new battery and charge it for 12 hours then it will be fine….

the music has to be mp3 the transfer for the phone and comp using usb is slow but its ok it doesnt matter just do summit

Best Phone ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 and ive had a few lol. the picture quality great! textin is ace. having no problems at all. i managed to get this one free with Orange and im with the dolphon 35 package. only bummer is that ive to be with them for a year and a half but its only £35 a month and i get 800 messages and 600 min a month. im an unbeliveable person for textin but never went over my limit yet.

I just got a viewty silver on o2, whilst the phone looks nice and is easy to use i am disapointed with the blue tooth feature. When i connct the phoen to my handsfree in my car it wont let me access the directories the phone, therefore when i press the butto non my car it wont bring up a list of contacts on the screen in the car, also when i receive a call and the phone is connected to my cars hands free the display on my car dosnt tell me who is ringing me it only shows the number and not the name whch is a real disapointment so sadly my phone is going back as this is something i use a lot.

The viewty looks great. Although a poor mans iphone, luckly for LG that the iphone is only available on O2, if it had a wider release across all the networks i cant see this having much play.

so as i am stuck on orange for a while i am getting the viewty. hopefully even though i am a confirmed mac addict this will surprise me, i have had a few lg phones in the past - the chocolate (a terrible phone) after having a few nice ones.

I was wnadering if anyone knew if there was a way to lock my text messages. On all my other phones I have had beofre I have been able to lock certain parts within the phone, ie. messages, pictures, making calls.

not too impressed by this phone, had it for 2 months, battery life is ridiculous, had to charge it every day despite minimal use, and its goes from four bars to dead in minutes. now i just went to switch it on…and its dead..wont power up even if connected to a power outlet…ridiculous, will take it back tomorrow for a no fuss phone

Has any one else been messing with the divX capabilities? Although limited on space, you can get about 5 films on one 2GB card and the sound and picture is amazing. Compared to an iPod Video, I would rate this much higher especially with the huge screen! Absolutely recommended for anyone who needs a media player for on the move. The battery will even last for about 2-3 films worth too!

I love this phone, i got the new silver one! i find my bat life ok it lasts two days when i have the vibrating screen on and i txt a lot. i also found that it came with a really thin and tiny screen cover (just like a piece of sticky back plastic) which stops the screen getting scratched. i can also buy replacement ones from my local phone shop!

tip …. on first charge charge the phone for 10 hours and dont use or play with it while it is charging. this will make the bat life longer

The only problem is the phone has no setting on to connect to the net, any body who has this phone could you pass on the settings for this phone please so i can get on to the net with it. Also do you need a 3g sim card to get on the net with this phone my sim accessed the net in my last phone but this phone is far better.

ive had the viewty for 3 weeks now. the battery is crap! and mine also goes from four bars to zero in a matter of minutes with no warning! and the flick thingy on the bk is awkward.. but luckily i have just found out i can scrol through my contacts with a flick of m finger lol.

Recently got the Viewty and a Vista user myself and it worked no problem.

I find the texting with such a large keyboad it easy and fast (much better than my previous SPV M700)

I find the only down fall is the response as its a bit slow at times.

In regards to becky’s coment: I would take your phone back to your supplier 12 month warenty if not use your insurance (thats if you have any)

Camera phone I hear you say. This is one of the worst camera phones outhere for a 5 megapixel count. I have one and love it but not for the camera. I have had 3 sonyericsson k series phones upto and including the k850i all of which have a far superior camera. Come on LG wake up and smell the coffee

looks good, bit of a novelty the touchscreen, a few things that are a miss
1: no % option on calculator everything else under the sun
2: i think the contactcs scroll is a bit iffy it would help if there was a scroll widget on the saide that was usable
ive got i will use it for while but its not the bees knees, if you work on site i can see the touchscreen getting knackerd also if you have chunky figers then give this phone a miss

all in all a nice toy for a while 7 out of 10

Had this phone for 4 days now and I have to say that anyone who thinks this phone is “the absolute business” values style much more than substance. The phone is a real looker with a responsive touch screen, slim design and easily navigable menu system but unfortunately it can not live up to its billing. For starters the battery life IS appalling. To all you who think that charging it for 10-12 hours initially increases battery life, bollocks, it has no positive effect whatsoever. If it did, do you not think LG would have stated this very simple step in its manual. The main battery drain I found was the network settings being set to ‘automatic’ which meant the phone constantly searched for the 3G network and hence the battery went in under 24hrs. I turned it to GSM 900/1800 and managed to increase the battery life to 48hrs with light to medium use. Still not good enough. Next I have to agree with those people who say the camera is poor. No optical zoom, a painfully weak flash and if you use the image stabiliser option then no flash at all (at least not on mine). Even in great light with a statue of a subject the results are at best average. Do not throw out your camera yet. The 120fps movie shoot mode is great if your near a 2000W light source otherwise it’s a washout. The editing tools are good fun for a while but quickly drain the already overworked battery and regularly caused my phone to lock-up for a while. Other gripes have already been mentioned many times above i.e
a) no holder for the pen.
b) difficult to scroll through menus - although this becomes easier with alot of practice.
c) a ridiculously placed jog wheel on the back of the phone.

Its a real shame about this phone because it is a beauty.

Hi everyone .. saw this phone on tv and thought “wow looks great!” .. so after a trip to cpw and being an 18 yr old female who likes all things “shiny n fun” decided to get one :)..

Ive had it now for around a month and Ive got to say .. definately agree with the majority about battery life .. oh my days, its naf lol!

BUT…

On the upside, I really like the overall phone, camera is great (in my opinion anyway) Im expecting a baby in nov so wanted something decent without going and buying a separate digi-cam .. Ive got a 256kb memory card and so far no trouble with storing pics videos music etc, infact most things are stored on the phone and its fine.. Like the handy stylus (pen) holder tht hangs from the phone, though I’ll probably lose it soon .. Done some video calling with my friend - worked well ..

Initially I thought the ‘no keypad thing’ would be a little hard to manage but Ive found it fine, texting is my “forté” lol and Id like to say its going well! I had to turn off the automatic screen lock though - useful feature but it started to bug me .. thats just me!

The downsides of this phone are.. first and foremost.. Battery life Wow its really terrible, I went to bed with a few bars and this morning woke to find it dead and gone .. The handwriting function on a text is a bit naf (may be my writing) but its a bit laborious and unless youve got the patience of a saint - Annoying! obviously this can be solved by simply not using it! .. lastly I havnt been able to get onto the net .. I think this is me because I dont know how to set it up hehe! Im on T-mobile so anyone with info plz let me know.

All in all if you are thinking of getting this phone.. the good points really outweigh the bad .. for all its niggly annoying things .. I still love it If youre still unsure.. keep having a look around but if youve got your heart set then dont be put off, I think its great .. Good luck x

Everyone that says the battery is rubbish is wrong, all you have to do is let it charge fully and then let it run down fully, about the first 5 times when you first get the phone. Ive done this and now I only charge it up once a week, and im always using the intenet on it, making calls and watching videos, and it still lasts me.

am going to get the lg viewty phone soon cos i think is the ideal phone for me after losing several phones. but most people pass on bad comments about this phone which i guess some of them don’t have the phone but only give their opinion. i will like to say to lg to keep up their good work.

I have had the LG Viewty for about three weeks now and would definately recommend it.

The touch screen does need some getting used to for navigating and texting, but its ok once you’ve got the knack. I was worried about getting a phone with no buttons, that i’d get sick of the touchscreen, but the screen buttons are so big that its hard to miss, and the optional ability to have the phone vibrate each time you press the screen makes up for the lack of physical button-pressing.

Yes the wierd slidy-thing on the back is a bit stupid, and its hard to use in the position its in. LG should have put it on the side or something. But you don’t have to use it for everyday phone tasks.

The camera lens has no cover so I use a phone sock to protect it. I’m not too worried about the front screen as the phone comes with extra protection film.

Theres no annoying way of accidently navigating around the phone when its in your pocket as the effective phone lock on the side deactivates the screen.

The battery is indeed crap. Especially when listening to songs on the phone (even through headphones). I am contemplating buying another battery to keep in my bag for ‘emergencies’ - it is that bad. I find myself charging the phone every 2 days.

There is only one outlet for the charger/USB/headphones which is great. It is covered by a slide bar so you can’t get any sand or anything stuck in there (i go to the beach a lot). LG have thought things through with this phone.

It is annoying that you can’t keep the pen in the phone. I ended up taking mine off as it kept whacking against the side of the phone when I was on a call. I hardly ever use it but it would be nice to have it there when i needed it.

The camera is great. One problem with mine is the default settings always reload when you use the camera again. I keep having to put the flash onto auto before I take a picture. This is irritating. Also, my last phone was a Sony Ericsson K800i and that 3.2 megapixel camera was superior to LG’s 5 megapixel believe it or not (a lot of picture noise). However, the zoom is not bad and the huge screen makes up for it. Slow-mo is a great bonus, and so it the shake control.

I love the simplicity of the LG Viewty. I used to only buy Sony Ericssons because their menu’s and navigation systems were great. I had a tiny LG about 4 years ago which was crap so I was a bit hesitant to get another. However, after having a play around with the LG Viewty I was swayed. Dispite its simplicity, the degree of customisation is good and features aren’t compromised.

Yes, the Viewty does have its flaws, but in my opinion, compared to the other phones out there at the mo - its the best. The benefits do outweight its disadvantages. Plus its very pretty! I would buy the Viewty over the iPhone - its smaller, cheaper and hasn’t been rushed onto the market.

I like this phone but I cant work out how to get the quick access menu off the home screen.
I found the rest of the phone really simple to use and this is the first problem I have had. If someone could help me!

I love my viewty which i got one month ago.

however, I would say that the battery is really crap and ridculous!
When I got it for the first 2 weeks, battery works fine, can last me at least 2 days under normal usage (no games, no FM, no music, no video). I am fine since i prefer my ipod. Now, the battery just last me a MERE 15 hours! I can’t even spend a day out without bringing the charger along. What’s the pt of turning to GSM mode when u get a 3G phone? That’s defeat the purpose. Especially with such a feature-packed phone, I would expect a longer battery life. The battery should serve the most fundamental function (together with memory space) of a useable phone. no pt having all the features if the phone’s life can’t sustain tru the ordeal!

I am calling LG service centre and will demand an explanation on such poor battery performance and such misrepresentation of up to max 454hrs on GSM. Crap! It’s not even 5% of the claimed performance.

ps: I was reading tru some of the comments and
1. Yes, you can delete all msg at the same time. E.g if you are to delete everything in ur inbox, choose the mark/unmark selection. There are boxes on the left side of the msgs. Right at the top beside “Inbox”, there is also a box, tick it. Simple.
2. No. you can’t listen to FM radio if you don’t have your earpiece attached. The small black device is the receive. It’s mentioned in the manual i believe.

hi if you see the screen there is a gap between your menu at the bottom and the fast access menu well there is some flashing arrows just in the gap double tap them and you fast menu will just scroll to the side

do the same action to make the screen reapear

I think the lg viewty is a fab phone, if your into toy phones that is.
u can do lots on it. Iv had mine for about 3 months now and i cant complain about the battery life, however i think the reception is shit.

The touch screen is better than most phones, its not to sensitive its just right but what i am starting to find is that it is not as responsive as when i first got it and the dials hav moved slightly, for example: when writing a message, to get a letter i hav to press just bellow the box instead of right on it.

I thinx the camera is wicked takes great picture, my only problem is that im havin trouble gettin my picture on my pc. my usb wire seems to act more like a charger dont no what im doing wrong, hav read the manual but am getting nowhere.

would someone clue me up on what i need to do please?

had my lg 4 coule ov months now and agree baterty life is not good is it, seems 2 b getting worse. im wondering iv i can have a password on my menue screen so no 1 could get in2 my msg ect . . . i am also after a cover r they available

I’ve had my Viewty for about a month now and it’s brilliant. The camera is superb and the interface easy to use. I have some silicone covers (two for 99p + £2.99 p&p from ebay) which help to protact the outer casing. The only downside is the lack of a lens cover, so you get fingerprints on the lens (probably why some people have complained about fuzzy pics - you have to keep it clean!). You can get lens covers on ebay, but I think they’d affect the quality of your photos. You can also get screen protectors on ebay, generally two for 99p with a couple of quid for postage - you don’t have to pay silly priices for this stuff so have a look. OK, the battery life isn’t the best, but it does the job if you don’t play with it too much, which can be difficult ‘cos it’s so much fun. You will need a micro SD card though, as the phone memory is tiny. Go for a 2GB one, I got mine for under £10.00 (you’ve guessed, form ebay, I think they should pay me for promotional work!) so save yourself some dosh, they can cost a bomb in the shops.

Got my Viewty yesterday and love it! Ive still got my plastic protection thing on the screen thought as i dont want it to get scratched…must find a cover!
Apart from finding it a bit difficult to scroll with the flicky thing on the back, i really like it…it’s abit different from anything ive had before so im liking the change.

this is a brilliant phone
and it definaty lives up to its standards,
it looks lovely
and it does alot of great things

however the scoll bar is really annoying,
but as ive recently discovered,
you can use the back of the camera for scrolling
which is really helpful…
camera isnt THE best, but still good

apart from that its a gorgeous phone!

BATTERY LIFE WAS AWFUL FOR ME TOO … but there’s a solution!

You need to do two things!
1)You need to turn your 3G off … (3G is only used for video calling … when you need to use it just switch it back on again) … you can do this by going to …’Phone settings/Connectivity/Network mode/2G only’ … it really does make a difference (atleast it did for me!)

2) Charge the battery whilst the phone is switched off (Only convenient at night whilst you’re asleep!!! But it does make a difference.)

Let me know if you notice a difference……..

BTW … although the phone is nice i think an N95 is better. Better functionality, more memory and the Nokia interface is unbeatable!

We all know the battery is not “fantastic” for some users. but, there are a few solutions!

1. charge the battery for 12 hours the first time, let it run down fully, then charge fully, 2-3 times and this makes a major differnce.

2. Turning on the Power Save mode is a Good start! ( found in phone settings )

3. Turn off the “beeping” noise when you press a button or delete something etc, also if you have the phone on vibrate when you press an icon, turn the vibration down so it’s not so strong.

And finally 4.
3G is a major battery killer, and is only used for video calling, so if your not a frequent ‘video caller’ , go to phone settings, network, and change from automatic to 2G/GSM, this also helps a fairly great deal.

I hope they release a version that can support HD video output (thru component or DVI/HDMI), and somekind of add-on that can read external USB storage. wow perfect

I’ve just upgraded and currently have the N95. But i’m thinking of taking it back and getting the Viewty. Any suggestions from anyone?

I Just Got My LG Viewty 2 Days Ago. I Got The Purple One And I Absolutely Love It.Its Simple To Use And The Camera Is Brill. All The Functions Are Fantastic. I Love It. But Im With Quite Alot Of People When They Say The Battery Is Crap. But What Is The Difference Between GSM And 3G :S.Also Is There A Way To Put Locks(Passwords) Onto Your Messages And Pictures ‘Cause My Brother Is So Nosey And I Have Pics Of Me On My Boyfriend I Dont Want Him To See LOL. i had the viewty but gave it to my dad cos i wanted the sony ericsson w580i i love my new phone

I am on my second Viewty in a month, it’s an amazing phone and everything about it is brilliant except the battery life. I am getting about 15 hours standby out of it from fully charged to totally dead - sadly this makes it unusable for me and I will trying to get rid of it and getting something else.
A real pity.

LG Viewty, an excellent looking phone and great camera although this is where the excellence ends, abissmal battery life coupled with poor bluetooth connection compatability makes this phone the business travellers nightmare. I thought mobiles were for talking on the move trust me you’d be better with a home phone, this thing always needs to be plugged into the mains. Mine continuously drops calls, a massive 24 in 1 hour. My providers solution; drive slower so that the signal can catch up with you! If you generally use this when you’re in the house or walking around town no problem this is the phone for you.

Alternatively if you’re constantly on the move choose something more reliable, a nokia never lets you down.

I have a LG veiwty and tbh it sucks, it freezes all the time, when you’re trying to transfer stuff from your pc to it or viser verser it never works, you’re ringtones corupt bizarely after you’ve heard them to make sure they work and the phone likes to deleted numbers without you knowing.. TBH if i were you i’d go buy a N95.

got the purple one for christmas, and tbh i carnt wait =D

Can anyone PLEASE tell me how I get pictures from my computer to my phone. Its usually just a simple drag and drop thing but I cant find a way to do it and its drivin me mad. Its an LG Viewty. I’ve installed the disc that comes with it and everything and it will let me get music from my com to my phone but not pictures.

i need helpppppp, i cant put the disc onto my laptop because its an apple mac and nothing slides out of it you have to push a CD into the laptop and the LG disc is too small , i dont what to doooo.

i think the fone is quite good but then agen not because if like your in a hurry and u need to call or text sum1 u cnt. u cant do anything on the fone if your hands are cold ive had the fone for over a month now and it does my heading soo much.

it have just got this phone my battery life is rubbish because wen i go it i dint leave it to charge for 12 hours oops

What a phone!!!!!!! I LOVE this phone. I became the proud owner of a red LG viewty last Wednesday, and I love it. Battery life is much the same as my vodafone 810, pictures are fab, touch screen is really easy to use, I thought I would need to use the stylus because I have short, rather stubby fingers, but I get on fine.

i brought this phone about 6 weeks ago
I have to say it is a brilliant phone

Unfortunatly i had mine in my pocket
& i took it out & the screen was broken for some reason

i am very very careful with my phones and i was gutted

a mobile phone shop told me it would be £70 to get it fixed..

How do I turn off the voice mail facility? Just about to get some car insurance quotes and in readiness for them all ringing back trying to chase a sale, I have managed to get my phone to reject all unknown calls but they divert straight onto voice mail. I thought it was as simple as deactivating all diverts….but its not! Help! Thanks.

good phone, easy to use, great camera, stylish but i got mine christmas 2008 and has been in for 3 services since, screen freezing, heating up and battery life deplorable. when charging it never says when battery is fully charged, so you may think it’s charged and find it turned off when you need it later on in the day, i left it charging overnight once and made call in the morning and went flat,

Iv had the LG viewty for 2 months now and it hasnt crashed once! Its got a great camera , and is really good a slow motion (120fps). The touchscreen is easy to use and i hardly found my self pressing the wrong button. But you have to look after it, its a scratch magnet! Its The only bad thing about it is that it doesnt have WiFi.
I would strongly recomend this phone to anybody wanting a really good phone lol.

Had my Viewty for 18 months, never crashed, never needed a repair.Camera good, but better are now available. Video is also tops for a mobile.mobile web is painfully slow, but I’m used to a real 20m/bit connection at home.
A couple of software niggles that LG will never sort out (18 months and no firmware upgrade-still selling new phones with same firmware as mine)
1:you can receive ems ( those little animated emoticons ) but cannot put them in your texts, nor can you forward a text that has them in.
2:If you receive an mms, then reply to it, sometimes it will reply as a text message, but other times you have to reply as mms, OR come out of reply and create a new message.
3:If you have “personal” pictures of your other half on your phone, you would put them on say your memory card and keep other stuff on your phone memory, or vice versa. but on the Viewty, even if your pics are on a different physical memory, when you go into my images, it just shows a thumbnail of EVERYTHING!!!!
4: Occasionally the screen doesnt respond, it’s rare and for me mainly when changing profile it takes 2 attempts.

All phones are never perfect, it depends on if you can live with it’s faults.
I’m due an upgrade, but only knew this because my network reminded me, so I must be happy with it or I would have been waiting desperately for my upgrade.

I’m ever considering getting another LG, the Renoir looks good on paper but the screen doesn’t react as well as the Viewty, but the Arena’s screen is as good if not better.

Got this phone at christmas and i text loads but the batteries crap wont stay on for more than 20 mins keeps turning off by itself got to wait another 20 mins before i can turn it back on again and try and use it and then it happens all over again. and my vibration doesnt work anymore either ^o)
