Mobile Phones More Important Than Wallets To The Hyperconnected

According to a recent survey the mobile phone has become such an important part of peoples lives that almost 40% of people would choose their phone over their wallet, keys, laptop or MP3 player if they had to leave the house for 24 hours.

The survey found that 38% of people regarded their phone as the most important item whereas just 30% would choose their wallets first.

Nortel commissioned the survey to find out how many people were “hyperconnected” and found that 16 percent of respondents fitted the description. Apparently hyperconnected people use email, laptops, mobile phones and at least seven devices for work and personal internet use as well as at least nine applications like instant messaging, text messaging and social networking.

The number of hyperconnected people is expected to reach 40% by 2013 meaning increased demand for devices and internet usage will increase dramatically.
