Samsung Galaxy F Leaked, Could be Samsung’s Metal-Bodied Smartphone

Samsung Galaxy F

The Galaxy F smartphone has been rumoured for several months, and is expected to be Samsung’s first device with a metal body shell. The latest leak comes from @evleaks, and it’s in the form of a press-style render. It shows a Galaxy S5-alike phone, with what looks like a brushed metal rear panel.

Samsung has been searching for the right type of “premium” material to use on its high-end Galaxy devices. It has experimented with fake leather on the Galaxy Note 3, and the S5 has an unusual perforated, soft-touch cover. Neither quite hit the spot, and the company can’t compete with the stunning HTC One (M8).

Metal seems to be the way Samsung is heading, and we’ve heard talk of the Galaxy F and the Galaxy S5 Prime both getting metal shells, but both these devices may end up being exactly the same phone. The new leak gives nothing else away, but the picture suggests the phone will have the same heart rate monitor built into the Galaxy S5.

Sadly, there’s no information on when the phone will launch either. Samsung only released the Galaxy S5 a few months ago, so superseding it so quickly seems unlikely. However, LG has swooped in and grabbed a lot of attention with the G3, something Samsung won’t take lightly. If the press render is genuine, it could indicate an announcement may come before the end of the summer.
