Nokia Name Could Disappear Soon

The beginning of the end of the iconic Nokia name looks to be upon the phone manufacturer, if information from the ever-reliable @evleaks is to be believed.

The Twitter user has revealed an internal Microsoft branded document, which suggests the Nokia name could start to disappear within a few months. The plan looks set to centre on a very gradual phase-out which will see new mobile services being launched under the Microsoft brand.

While the upcoming Lumia 930 looks certain to emerge with a Nokia label, future devices may not follow suit, despite the software giant having a 10 year license of the use of the name for its smartphones.

Further information included in the document suggests that the font used on Nokia marketing material will also change to one more in line with Microsoft’s brand, and that the iconic Nokia Tune ringtone will eventually be dropped.
