Tips for Using Snapchat

Snapchat has quickly become one of the most popular smartphone apps on the market, seeing its users easily swapping quick snaps with each other. Heralding a new era of social networking that stays away from the permanence of something like Facebook, the app offers a safer way of swapping photos.

Hidden within Snapchat’s simple interface are a few extra features that can help you to get even more out of what it does. We’re taking a look at some of the most useful ones that we’ve found.

Enable Smart Filters

A basic photo can be emblazoned with extra information like the time and temperature. If you’re boasting about how well your holiday is going, its easy to add the temperature to your shot to really rub it in.

Just go into the settings menu, tap manage then turn Smart Filters on. Once you’ve taken a shot, swipe left or right across the screen to preview all the information before deciding what you want to add.

Change colours by swiping

Scrawling all over your funny shots can be a brilliant way of adding something to them, although the range of colours available may seem a bit limited at first. Here’s a handy tip to get your hands on even more options.

Once you’ve selected a colour from the palette in the top right of the screen, just swipe your finger across and down the screen to adjust it. This will either lighten or darken the tone, allowing you to go as far as turning a snap into black or white.

Add a vintage look

Along with those Smart Filters, users can add Visual Filters to give their photos that extra touch, adding a vintage sheen in a similar way to what you might do with Instagram.

Enable the option in the settings menu, then swipe left and right to bring up the filters on offer, giving your images an added element that can really bring them to life.

Use large fonts

From that same settings menu you can select Special Text, bringing more life to your photo captions. Once you activate this you’ll be able to add large text, and also align it to the centre of your images.

After taking a shot, hit the Tap to Add Caption message and then tap the ‘T’ icon at the top right of the display to cycle through your text options.

Delete account

Lastly, if you decided that even Snapchat doesn’t have the levels of privacy that you demand for your online life, you can delete your account entirely. Follow this link and sign in, then tap through the options to erase everything.
