Smartphones are the perfect tools for recording your life as it happens, capturing those special moments and sharing them with others, or just turning the mundane into memories that may one day make you smile.
There are countless ways of taking photos and recording your thoughts and feelings, and a multitude of apps that have sprung up to gather all these memories in one place. We take a look at some of the best apps that will help you to create your own digital diary.
Narrato is a comprehensive app that lets you create multiple diaries and fill them with daily entries. Photos and notes can be added to each, and the app will import things from other services such as Twitter to add to each memory.
Once you’ve built up a collection and have been working on your diary for some time, it can be great to sit back and flick through random days gone by, reminded of things that you may otherwise have forgotten.
My Wonderful Days
The quick and simple answer to diary-making, My Wonderful Days has a great UI that allows you to add entries with little fuss at all. Notes can be added with a tap and there is even a sliding scale that lets you enter how happy or sad you are feeling each day.
An effective search function also makes it easy to skip to specific dates, or you can just browse through each entry at your leisure.
One of our favourite apps, Heyday, works with almost no effort from the user at all. Accessing a handset’s photo library and GPS signal, the app automatically adds photos and geotags them as they are taken, creating a rolling visual diary.
All of this is presented in a beautiful interface which allows you to skip through past entries with ease. The app also pulls together random days and presents photos from them in a full-screen view which can easily be swiped through, bringing back some treasured memories of old.
