LG G2 Rumoured to Become Latest Mini Handset

The recent trend that sees smartphone manufacturers trimming down their high-end handsets to suit the mid-range market continues apace, with LG rumoured to be the latest firm to adopt the strategy.

Greek tech site Techblog claims that the Korean firm’s 2013 flagship, the LG G2, will be getting a makeover that brings it in line with the likes of the HTC One mini and Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

However, where these devices feature a reduction in specs across the board, it seems that LG’s miniature creation may not be quite as much of a compromise. While the G2’s display is said to be getting a trim from 5.2-inches to 4.7-inches, many of the specs could remain the same.

This means that the trimmed-down handset could still feature a Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM, making it an impressive powerhouse for the mid-range market. Few other details have emerged, but Techblog suggests that the device will be unveiled at CES 2014 next month, so we may not have to wait long until we know more.
