Excitement about the eagerly awaited photo-sharing app’s debut on Windows Phone has reached further heights following a tweet by Nokia.

The Finnish firm’s image shows a Lumia 1020 with the app displayed on the screen of the 41-megapixel device. While bearing a close resemblance to its Android and iOS counterparts, the app features instantly recognisable Windows Phone-style icons on the lower part of its interface.

During Nokia’s Abu Dhabi launch event last week, Kevin Sytrom, CEO of Instagram, announced that his company will be launching a version of its service for Microsoft’s mobile platform. The smartphone maker has said that the app will become available in the next few weeks.

With the focus that Nokia has long put on the quality of its smartphone cameras it has been a bugbear to the firm’s fans that the hugely popular service has not yet been available to them. It will be very interesting to see how images captured with the likes of the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925 will compare to others within the photo streams of Instagram users.
