Following the announcement of the Sony Xperia Z1, rumours began to spread that Sony was planning a mini version of the phone, along the same lines as the HTC One Mini and the Galaxy S4 Mini. A series of specs and a leaked image showed up soon afterwards, indicating the Z1 Mini would be an impressive little phone. Now, another leak has given us a complete rundown of the phone’s specs, plus a second hint at its design, and a potential new name.
Unsurprisingly, it’s set to look similar to the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z, just on a slightly smaller scale. However, while the screen may be reduced to measuring 4.3-inches with a 720p resolution, the processor could be the same as that found in the Z1. In case you need a reminder, that’s the Snapdragon 800, seen in the leaked specs with a 2.2Ghz clock speed.
The same 20.7-megapixel camera featured on the Xperia Z1 could also be fitted to the smaller phone, which the leak reveals will possibly be called named the Xperia Z1 F. All this comes from a catalogue belonging to the NTT Docomo network in Japan. We can’t be certain it’s genuine, but it’s fairly convincing. Other possible Xperia Z1 F features include water and dust resistance, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory.
All this puts it above the competition, in terms of specs, and makes us eager to see the phone officially announced. We could be in for a little wait though, as the last we heard, the Xperia X1 F would be unveiled during CES 2014 in January.
