We could be about to get another Nokia Asha phone, as a new leak has outed the Asha 502. It’s another in the growing Asha touchscreen range, joining hardware such as the Asha 501 which was announced in May. Unlike Nokia’s Windows Phone Lumia devices, Asha phones run Series 40 software, and although they aren’t smartphones, they’re not strictly feature phones either.
The leak comes from the @evleaks Twitter account, where a photo of the phone was posted at the end of last week. The image shows a Lumia-like phone in six different colours, wrapped up in a cool transparent case. This helps show off those super bright body shells, while still keeping them factory-fresh and free from scratches.
There are no specifications to go along with the picture, but if it’s anything like previous Asha phones, the screen may measure around 3-inches and have a basic 320×240 pixel resolution, plus Nokia usually includes Wi-Fi and a dual-SIM variant too. The picture shows a flash next to the camera lens, which is an unusual addition.
Nokia has an event planned for 22 October, where it may launch up to six new products. Now the Asha 502 has shown up, it’s another strong possibility for the day, where it could line-up alongside the Lumia 1520 and the Lumia 2520 tablet. Of course, Nokia has sneaked new Asha models out in press releases before, so there’s no guarantee we’ll have to wait until the end of the month before the Asha 502 is officially announced.
