In an interview with Bulgarian website dnevnik.bg, the boss of LG‘s mobile communications division in the European country has spilled a few choice details about the company’s upcoming plans, and they’re sounding great. First of all, he says we can expect a new tablet from them very soon.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a new tablet from LG, as a rumour from last week talked about the LG G Pad, which could be unveiled at the IFA tech show next month. If the information proves correct, it’ll have an 8.3-inch screen with a 1920×1200 resolution and a quad-core processor. An report from tech site Engadget also mentions the V500 tablet, which is supposed to have a larger 9.8-inch screen.
Following on from this, LG has another big-screen smartphone in the works, which has a 6-inch screen. There’s no word on the resolution, but we’d be surprised if it was less than 1080p, as any smartphone this size will have to deal with the Galaxy Note 3 later on this year.
We should also be on the look out for a new phone running Mozilla’s Firefox OS, but it won’t be coming until next year. When it does, it’s not likely to be very high spec, as Firefox is designed to run on relatively simple, cheap hardware. It’ll be interesting to see what it comes up with. Finally, LG’s going to be coming out with a smartwatch, and there’s a chance it’ll have a flexible display. Exciting stuff.
Although this all comes from an LG executive, it’s not official, official information, but it’s certainly more credible than a leak from an anonymous source. We look forward to seeing what LG has in store for us over the coming months.
