If you didn’t get all excited about the rumoured BlackBerry 9720 – and let’s be honest, who can blame you – then talk of the next big BlackBerry 10 device may be music to your ears. Plus, when we say big, we mean big, and rumour has it the phone may sport a 5-inch display.
The device is currently known as the Aristo, but could wear the official name of the BlackBerry A10, continuing the trend set by the Z10 and the Q10. Only this time, BlackBerry is going all out to attract fans of devices with really big screens. If it wants to compete with the likes of the Sony Xperia Z and the Samsung Galaxy S4, a 5-inch display is essential, and will be the largest we’ve seen on a smartphone from the Canadian manufacturer.
Regarding the other specifications, the A10 may still be powered by a dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM, just like the BB10 phones already on sale. BlackBerry has also stated its screen resolutions are unlikely to change this year, so expect it to be another 720p panel. As for the design, it could take its inspiration from the Galaxy S4, and be less angular than the Z10, while improving build quality.
If the rumour is correct, and it certainly rings true, as BlackBerry boss Thorsten Heins has already said it has another exciting handset planned for 2013, it could be released sometime after the summer and before the end of the year.
