LG is holding an event on 7 August, where although it hasn’t explicitly said so, we’re expecting it to announce the sequel to the Optimus G, which may or may not be called the LG G2. News of the event first came at the end of June, but at the time almost no information was provided outside of the date and approximate location.
Now, an invitation has been circulated along with a teaser video. The invite shows a glossy piece of material, which could be covering up the phone LG intends to reveal, while saying, “Great 2 Have You!” Both the letter G and the number 2 are in larger font sizes to the rest of the text, emphasizing “G2.” Subtle, as always, LG.
The video runs for around one and a half minutes, and essentially gives the same message over and over. It’s shot from a single person’s perspective, and shows them wandering the streets of New York – where the event will take place – and continually seeing the message, “To me, you are perfect. From G.”
Aside from this, there don’t seem to be any other hidden messages, although there are one or two people seen using dedicated cameras as well as smartphones, so perhaps the G2 is going to push the camera features on its new device. Otherwise, the video reminds us of Samsung’s pre Galaxy S4 launch antics.
Little is known for sure about the G2′s specs, although it’s almost certain it will use a Snapdragon 800 processor, also seen in the Xperia Z Ultra and the LTE-Advanced version of the Galaxy S4. There’s still a month to go before the event takes place, so expect another round of teasing to commence in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, you can take a look at the video itself below.
