Enjoy our round-up of ten mobile phone related news stories you may have missed including the Glamour Red HTC One, more 4G coverage from EE, and the new Motorola logo.

1. EE Adds 11 New 4G Locations

EE has increased its 4G coverage in the UK to 55 percent this week, by adding another 11 towns and cities to its ever growing list. The latest additions are Aldershot, Basildon, Basingstoke, Bracknell, Hitchin, Horsham, Leatherhead, Letchworth, Stevenage, Warrington and Weston-super-Mare.

2. New Motorola Logo Revealed

Motorola has revealed a new company logo. Although the stylised “M” remains, it’s surrounded by a multi-colour ring, and the company name is now all in lower case and has, “A Google company” underneath. The colours are speculated to match those that the new Moto X phone will be available in. The device, developed with Google, is expected to launch soon.

3. Phones 4u to Stock Red HTC One

Phones 4u has bagged an exclusive version of the HTC One. Although the spec remains the same – a 4.7-inch 1080p screen, quad-core processor, and the UltraPixel camera – the phone will be available in a new, Glamour Red colour scheme. It joins the standard black and silver version, and will be go on sale in mid-July. You can take a look at out video review of the HTC One below.

4. British Airways Revise Phone Rules

British Airways has become the first airline to allow passengers to turn on their phones after the plane has landed, rather than waiting until passengers are inside the terminal. It’s not the same for takeoff though, and electronic devices still have to be switched off until the plane reaches 10,000 feet. How long will it before other airlines also lift the landing restriction?

5. Huawei Ascend W2 Leaked

The next Windows Phone device from Huawei has been spotted, and its specifications revealed ahead of its official announcement. The Ascend W2 phone will have a 4.3-inch screen, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and an 8 megapixel camera. There’s a total of 8GB of storage space, plus a microSD card slot, and it’ll come in several colours including yellow, red and blue.

6.Fujitsu Launches the Arrows 202f Smartphone

Fujitsu has launched a new Android phone, the Arrows 202f, which is exclusive to the SoftBank network in Japan. It’s a good looking phone though, and boasts an impressive specification. The screen has a 1080p resolution and measures 5-inches, while the Snapdragon 600 processor has a 1.7GHz clock speed, and there is a 13 megapixel camera on the rear. The standout spec is a 3000mAh battery, which beats most of its closest competitors.

7. Sony Releases the SBH52 Headset.

Along with the Xperia Z Ultra, Sony has launched a new headset, the SBH52. It’s the world’s first NFC-enabled Bluetooth headset to offer HD Voice and one-touch pairing, plus it has an FM radio, and a splash proof body. It’s compatible with any device which has A2DP Bluetooth connectivity, and will be released soon. You can take a look at a video of the device below.

8. Samsung Announces Another Galaxy S4 Variant

Samsung has released another Galaxy S4 phone, but this time it’s only for the Korean market, as it supports the world’s first LTE-Advanced network, launched this week by local network SK Telecom. In addition to the faster data speeds – 150Mbps is a possibility – the Galaxy S4 LTE-A has a 2.3GHz Snapdraon 800 processor inside.

9. 02 Ireland Snapped Up by Hutchison Whampoa

It’s all change in Ireland, as the Telefonica-owned 02 Ireland network has been purchased by Hutchison Whampoa, the company which owns Three UK, for 850 million euros. The deal will see the network re-branded as Three, and will mean the network controls 37.5% of the Irish market.

10. Android 4.2.2 Update Coming to Xperia Z

Reports are coming in from owners of the Sony Xperia Z that an update to Android 4.2.2 has started to appear. It seems if you have the unlocked international version of the phone, you’re top of the list, but those with a network locked device should follow soon. Head over to Settings and Check for Updates on your phone to see if you’re one of the lucky ones.
