It’s now a week until Nokia’s London event, where we know it’s going to launch a new Lumia smartphone, however exactly which one isn’t clear. A phone with the codename Catwalk has been a prime contender, and it seems the device may have the retail name of the Lumia 925. On the other hand, it could be for a full-on PureView-equipped camera phone, known as the Nokia EOS. It could even be for both.
If the Lumia 925 is one of the new phones revealed on the day, it’s believed it’ll also be released in the U.S. on the Verizon network as the Lumia 928. It’s expected to have the same, excellent low-light camera performance as the Lumia 920, but with a few additional tweaks and a xenon flash. A Nokia website teasing the phone has confirmed its existence, so we know it’s coming.
Now, Nokia has gone one step further and released a video comparing the video recording performance of the new Lumia phone, to the Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5. Shot on a roller coaster, we first see an entire run through with the Lumia phone, then we get a few comparison shots with its rivals. There’s no question the Lumia performs better, and the footage is really good considering the challenging environment.
While this is a Nokia US video, and is being used to promote the Lumia 928, the camera will most likely be the same as the one fitted to the Lumia 925. Now all we have to do is wait a week before Nokia’s launch event.
