Nokia is holding a special event on May and on the invitation, it was kind enough to let us know it would be revealing a new Lumia phone. This has since set tongues wagging about whether it would be the rumoured Catwalk or the EOS, two phones discussed for some time which seem likely candidates for the show.
A new leak has put an official name to one of these two phones – the Lumia 925, and suggested it’ll be the one on display at next week’s event. This indicates the phone will be an evolution of the Lumia 920, which is the role we’re expecting the Catwalk to fill.
If the two phones turn out to be one and the same, we’re probably going to be introduced to a thinner and lighter version of the Lumia 920, as the Catwalk has been rumoured to be made from aluminium. Additionally, a xenon flash may be added to the camera’s specs. Otherwise, the features should be the same as the Lumia 920′s, with a 4.5-inch screen, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and an 8.7 megapixel camera.
The Catwalk has also been linked to the Lumia 928, a version of the phone headed for the U.S.-only Verizon network, which may get its release later in May at the CTIA show.
If the Lumia 925 is the phone which Nokia will announce next week, and it does turn out to be the Lumia 920′s successor, it’ll be coming only around six months into the life of the 920 – which may make it unpopular with dedicated Nokia buyers. However, the rumour may be false, and we’ve also heard tales of Nokia using the event to reveal a Windows tablet too. We’ll find out the whole story on May 14.
