Nokia has teased us with a very short, and rather cryptic announcement on its official blog, saying this Wednesday, 24 April, at a bright-and-breezy 7 am, it has something new to show us. Straight after the event, which sounds like it could be live streamed although there’s no official confirmation of this yet, there will be a Q&A session with a member of Nokia‘s mobile phone team, along with a “Special Guest.”
The accompanying picture shows the edge of a yellow casing, then a corner with a couple of buttons, again on a yellow phone. Nokia gives us no other clues at all, and although we’re almost certain there are other Windows Phone devices to come from them this year, the shot of the keyboard indicates the event won’t be to introduce them, and instead may concentrate on Series 40 hardware.
If this is the case, some new Asha phones are probably on the menu. Nokia didn’t unveil any new Asha phones during Mobile World Congress, and we’ve not seen anything much since the introduction of the Asha 308 and Asha 309 in September last year. If the image relates to new Asha phones, Nokia seems to be using the brightest coloured models to push the line again.
It’s all speculation though, but we’ve not got long to wait until we find out what Nokia has planned. We’ll bring you all the news on Wednesday morning.
