Following rumours that were widely circulated yesterday, popular messaging service WhatsApp has denied that it is in talks with Google about a buy-out by the search giant.

Reports claimed that a deal between the two firms could see WhatsApp being aquired for a potential $1bn dollars, with speculation suggesting that Google could be interested in incorporating the start-up’s development team into its own messaging service project.

However, Neeraj Arora, head of business development at WhatsApp, has spoken to techs site AllThingsD to deny that any deal is in the pipeline, although the exec declined to comment any further on the matter when pushed.

This still leaves us wondering what the future holds for WhatsApp and whether it will eventually sell up to a larger concern. The enormous popularity the app has achieved must be very enticing to some major tech firms and it’s possible that we may see more headlines regarding the messaging service in the near future.
