Images of Huawei’s W1 device have emerged online, giving the first impression of what the Chinese manufacturer has in store in terms of upcoming handsets.
The Ascend W1 is rumoured to launch at the CES 2013 trade show in January, with the device initially made available in Asia.
In terms of specs, the Ascend W1 doesn’t bear much resemblance to the manufacturer’s recent Android device, the Ascend P1, featuring a smaller, 4-inch display and only a 5 megapixel camera.
The handset also features a less-powerful dual-core, 1.2GHz processor but has a larger, 2000mAh battery which will be amongst the most powerful seen on a Windows Phone 8 device so far.
Stiff competition has opened up within the Windows Phone 8 market with high-performance handsets emerging from Nokia,Samsung and HTC. Huawei’s WP8 device may however be more comparable to the mid-range handsets which have so far been unveiled such as Nokia’s Lumia 820 and HTC’s 8S.
