HTC will be holding a press conference later today, in which it was expected to launch its contribution to Windows Phone 8, a theory that has now been confirmed with a teaser image posted to the company’s Facebook page.
The picture shows the corner of a mystery device, however the clock’s position and font tells us we’re looking at a Windows Phone operating system. Below is the “19.9″ date of the event, plus the words “when beautiful hardware meets stunning software”.
It’s not the first hint we’ve had either, as the event invitation used a very Windows Phone-like design, and we’ve seen several leaks concerning the device’s HTC has prepared for us too.
Expected to follow the Android-based One X, One S and One V closely, the leaked phones have gone under the respective codenames of the Zenith, Accord and Rio. Screen sizes range from 4.3-inches to 4.7-inches, with the at least one of the phones likely to use a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor.
In addition to the Windows Phone 8 hardware, the increased amount of leaks surrounding the One X5 tablet/smartphone hybrid could indicate we’ll see that too.
HTC’s Windows Phones will join offerings from Nokia – the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 – plus the single Samsung Ativ S. We’ve got high expectations too, especially from the range-topping One X equivalent.
The event will take place in New York at 11am local time (4pm in the UK), and we’ll bring you all the news as it happens, so make sure you check back then.
