It’s to be held on the 19 September in New York at 11am, (4pm here in the UK), and HTC says simply to join them “to see what’s next”. Unlike Apple’s invitation, it doesn’t give much away, but it does feature an unusual design that’s reminiscent of a Windows Phone command.
HTC didn’t really bother with the IFA 2012 show, leaving Samsung to launch its Ativ S Windows Phone 8 device, and only showing off the Desire X Android phone. It makes sense that this event will herald the arrival of its own Windows Phone 8 hardware.
So far, there have been leaks about the HTC Zenith, the Accord and the Rio, including some blurry pictures, but little to really get excited about just yet. Expect that to change as the event draws closer though, as HTC is notorious for leaked products prior to a big event.
HTC’s event comes the day after Motorola is expected to reveal an Intel Atom-powered device in the UK and a week or so after Apple’s event. Before then, we’ve also got Nokia and Microsoft’s get-together, which is also likely to feature Windows Phone 8 hardware, plus Amazon could debut the next Kindle Fire tablet this week too.
September was always going to be an exciting month, but at this rate, it’s going to beat Mobile World Congress and become the busiest we’ve ever seen.
