Brilliant, right? Well, not so fast. HTC has posted a response on its UK Facebook page that it’s still on schedule to provide Android 4.0 for the Desire HD and the Desire S, but it can’t offer an exact date of delivery.
The update has previously been slated as coming during July and August, so it’s unlikely to be this month if HTC can’t confirm it at this late stage, meaning at least another few weeks wait.
Then, as HTC warns on its update webpage, owners will have to give the networks 45 days grace to make sure the software works properly. So, if we think positively and say the update is sent to the networks during the first week of August, then it may start to seed by mid-September.
Still, the promise of an update is better than no update at all, which looked like the case earlier this week.
Updating compatible phones to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has been a mammoth task for hardware manufacturers this year, and the process is still underway, despite Android 4.1 Jelly Bean being announced last month.
