LG looks to be planning a packed Mobile World Congress, as the past week has seen information on no less than four new devices leak out, showing the company is serious about making a big impact at the Barcelona show.
First is the LG Optimus Vu, a potential Galaxy Note challenger sporting a 5-inch screen with an unusual 4:3 aspect ratio and a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. This is sure to give the device an oddly square shape, which will certainly mean it looks like nothing else on the market.
A teaser trailer proves the Vu is more than idle speculation; however the specs, said to be a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, Android Gingerbread OS and 8 megapixel camera, are yet to be confirmed. There’s a chance the Vu could initially launch in LG’s home country of Korea, but given the Note’s success, there’s a good chance it’ll see an international release too.
Next we have the LG Miracle. Previously been leaked under the name LG Fantasy, the device will run Windows Phone 7 when released. The handset has a 4-inch NOVA touchscreen, a 1GHz Snapdragon chip, 8GB internal memory and a camera of unspecified megapixels (we’d expect 5) that can shoot 720p video.
The source of the leak also said the Miracle would have NFC functionality, a feature that isn’t expected to arrive on Windows Phone for a while yet.
Finally, two LG models numbers turned up on a UPnP certification page, the P700 and P880, which when compared with uncovered User Agent Profiles, revealed them to both run Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Of the two, the P880 looks the most exciting, with an 720p screen resolution, a dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM.
The P700 will have an uncommon 640 x 480 pixel resolution and a 1GHz single-core processor, and if you’re surprised by that odd resolution, it’s because the phone will most likely have a QWERTY keyboard.
These four phones are in addition to the quad-core LG X3 and the successor to the Optimus 3D that have already been rumoured for Mobile World Congress. With this many potential phones just from LG, it’s set to be an exciting show!
