Google has announced the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system will be released in Hong Kong on 19 October.
A video released by the internet giant showing a new Ice Cream Sandwich statue being unveiled at Google headquarters, confirmed the date which will coincide with the launch of the Samsung-built Google Nexus Prime.
The new iteration of Android is also rumoured to be unveiled in London on 27 October.
Google has not provided much information about the update but it is thought that the new OS will merge Gingerbread and the tablet-centric Honeycomb platforms together to provide a more unified OS.
Ice Cream Sandwich is predicted to be a success in light of Google’s recently announced success in the last quarter in which 190 million Android were activated.
Larry Page, CEO of Google, said: “We had a great quarter…Revenue was up 33% year on year and our quarterly revenue was just short of $10 billion. Google+ is now open to everyone and we just passed the 40 million user mark.”
