This isn’t the first time we’ve heard all about the HTC Vigor, as just last month the phone made an appearance on a Dutch retail site, however this leak was subsequently revealed as fake. The extent of the ads falseness however, may only extend to the image attached as once again, the same super high-spec feature list has been leaked in connection with the Vigor.
This time, the leak comes courtesy of an Italian blog, quoting from a reader’s Google+ account, where a Verizon ROM for the Vigor has been dissected to reveal the presence of a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, a 4.3-inch touchscreen with a 720p resolution (that’s 1280 x 720 on a phone), 1GB RAM, Bluetooth 3.0 and an 8 megapixel camera.
Google Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 is given as the OS of choice, and its suggested that this would be obscured by HTC Sense 3.5. Finally, a 2 megapixel forward-facing video call lens and the new Beats by Dr. Dre audio technology would complete the Vigor’s feature list.
The spec, although high, isn’t beyond the realms of possibility, given we’ve already heard about Hitachi’s and Toshiba’s plans for a 720p mobile screen, plus the fact this and the remainder of the features sound almost identical to the LG U6200, a device all-but confirmed by a Korean network recently.
However, as one leak has already proved to be inaccurate, this new information comes with slightly less credibility attached than usual. Perhaps the only disappointing part of the Vigor’s spec is the Verizon compatibility, meaning a CDMA radio hides inside. We’re hoping it’ll be either a ‘world’ phone, or have a GSM alternative announced alongside it. Whenever that may be, of course!
