The unannounced LG Star is quite the globetrotter and following its brief stint in Israel, has now shown up in Korea and appears to have changed its name along the way to the Optimus 2X. Some lucky folk managed to get their hands on the upcoming dual-core processor smartphone and took the opportunity to get the camera out to demonstrate the device’s playback capabilities via its HDMI port.
LG hasn’t commented on the supposedly name change, but it’s largely believed that the handset in the leaked video is in fact the Star, not only based on appearance, but because the onboard content that appears in the footage has LG’s local branding of Cyon. Apart from that, the only other noticeable difference is the product code.
The LG Star already has its name in lights despite still being an unofficial device, and is so far tipped to be sporting a NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 8 megapixel camera with the final product also thought to be coming with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
A UK release date for the Star is yet to be confirmed, but word on the street is that it will launch in the next couple of months. We’d quite like to get our hands on it now though!
