It has been a long time coming, but Apple has officially released their latest software platform iOS 4.2. iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch (second, third and fourth generation) users can download the update which mainly benefits the popular Apple tablet.
Steve Jobs stated in the press release that “iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely different product” and didn’t hold back either by continuing to say the new software will “define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will be able to hit.”
iPad users will now be able to enjoy many of the features iPhone and iPod Touch owners received in iOS 4.0 and 4.1 including multitasking, Game Centre, media streaming function – AirPlay and wireless printing service – AirPrint.
Apple has also brought the Find My Phone app to the party, which allows users to remotely locate, wipe or lock their device when it goes missing without needing a MobileMe subscription.
You can install iOS 4.2 by syncing your device with iTunes 10.1.
