Spotted at the beginning of September, the Acer Liquid Metal has been made official by the PC manufacturer with the news that it’ll be landing in the UK before the end of 2010. Like the initial pictures hinted at, the Liquid Metal has a distinctive shiny stainless steel battery cover, making it standout in a crowded market sector.
Here’s what you need to know:
- A capacitive 3.6″ touchscreen with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution.
- Google Android 2.2.
- An 800MHz processor.
- 3G with HSDPA and HSUPA.
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- A 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash.
That’s not all either, as the Liquid Metal has DLNA support, a 3.5mm headphone socket, microSD card slot, Dolby Surround audio technology and 720p video recording. We think that’s a comprehensive spec list!
Like many other manufacturers, Acer has chosen to hide Android behind their own UI, which they’ve named Breeze. As one would expect, it includes an app manager, quick start-up for frequently used apps and customisable homescreens. A social network aggregator named SocialJogger has also been added and updates can be scrolled through using the trackwheel.
The Acer Liquid Metal will be available in brown during November, while the silver version will be available in December. The retail price without a contract is a reasonable £299.
