‘Time Traveller Uses Mobile Phone’ in Charlie Chaplin Film

The last thing you expect to see in a Charlie Chaplin film is a woman walking along with a mobile phone pressed to her ear. Fair enough, a pink elephant would be pretty unexpected too, but as this is a black & white film, that would be impossible.

But, back to the supposed time-traveller, an eagle-eyed movie buff has found a clip from the 1928 film ‘The Circus’ which really does appear to show a lady dressed in black having a mobile conversation as she walks past the camera.

George Clark who posted the clip online along with his analysis says: ”I have studied this film for over a year now – showing it to over 100 people and at a film festival, yet no-one can give any explanation as to what she is doing.”

We have also studied the clip and, well, it really does look like someone using a mobile! It doesn’t look like a fake (although we will withhold judgement on that just in case); it’s just very, very strange.

Of course there is bound to be a reasonable explanation – it’s most probably a shadow, or a scarf, but we do prefer to believe it’s a time-traveller…

Check out the footage below, and let us know what you think.
