It’s amazing how much joy a Twitter message can spread, especially among owners of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 mobile phone when a tweet confirms something they’ve been longing for is finally headed their way. We’re talking about the long-requested upgrade from standard Android 1.6 to Android 2.1!
In reply to a follower, Sony Ericsson had this to say:
“We can only confirm that the upgrade to Android 2.1 is due for release before the end of September this year. We hope this helps.”
With September starting today, that’s a maximum of four-and-a-bit weeks to wait until your X10 gets its fill of lovely Éclair. Of course, this will still be a step behind the very latest version of Google’s OS, but it’s about as up-to-date as we could hope for, and a huge improvement over what we’ve got!
Sony Ericsson didn’t make it clear whether this will be for solely the X10, or if it includes its Mini siblings too, but the last we heard this would be available for all X10 phones, which is great news for everyone!
